Last day of Kamwama

The last day of camp at Kamwama went really well. We taught the kids how to play ultimate frisbee, did a little HIV teaching, and then planted some trees around the school. The kids got to do their presentations, and I was SO proud of our group. They stood up in front of everyone and sang absolutely beautiful. I felt like they were my kids! We gave the school a poster of pictures we had taken the first two days, a soccer ball, and tree saplings for each kid (they had been donated by MokuZoku, a company started by the guys who started World Camp). The kids get SO excited when you take their pictures. They LOVE to see themselves in the camera afterwards.

Came back and the group went out for indian food at a restaurant downtown called “the Hut”. I have no idea what we ate, but it was all vegetarian and ALL tasty.

I did come down with something today after we came back from Kamwama.. my throat has been really irritated which I’m hoping is just something small instead of something like strep. I found out today the Peace Corp is right down the street, so if we come down with something they have trained American doctors who can prescribe antibiotics (nice!).

Tomorrow we’re supposed to go on a four-hour hike, so hopefully I’ll feel better after sleeping tonight!
