Wanda’s two months in Aiken

March 29, 2011

This past weekend I made the 10 hour + trip from Fairfax, VA on Friday after work to Aiken, SC (with an overnight pit stop in Florence, SC), and returned on Sunday. I had originally taken Wanda to Aiken for a few reasons, with the greatest being the fact I have no arena at home and the ground was making it increasingly difficult to ride. Not to mention the fact…

My job and Aiken adventures

My last update was December 2nd, and boy has a lot gone on since then! The holidays went without a glitch, and I was lucky to be able to spend Christmas with my family at Millwood this year. Last year I was working in PA, and had to work that morning so I wasn’t able to make it in time for the Judy family Christmas. Post-holidays, I had a few…

Aiken Plague

February 9, 2010

We’ve been hit! Jennie was the first to get it, and now I have been brought down by the plague. It’s a pretty weird illness which starts as a headache at night and gives you a horrible achy feeling in the morning. Unfortunately my day off wasn’t until Friday, so I was pretty down-under this morning. Today at work Susanna graciously offered to switch days with me, so now I…

Ohh Aiken!

February 4, 2010

So we’ve relocated to Aiken, SC for the winter, and things are going pretty well! The work here is definitely more tough and the days are longer. I’m actually running out the door but wanted to give a brief update.. will do more later!! What happens when you get in hot sun with no lotion after being in cold weather for a long time? Burn blisters!

10 days till Aiken!

There are 10 days until the official move to Aiken! Emma’s been crazy trying to get all the horses clipped and all the stuff together to take down with us. I’m actually heading home to northern VA this weekend (Friday to Sunday) to attend an HA Rating retreat at Millwood. This is totally unrelated to TPF, but the knowledge I gain from this weekend should definitely help my work with…

Home from Litchfield Beach

August 10, 2009

Home, bittersweet home from the beach! I have to say that this trip was one of the best beach trips we’ve ever taken. There were no “too-much-time-together” disagreements which made the whole trip better! The weather was PERFECT. We got a few storms the first day, but then it was hot, hot, HOT! the rest of the week. We really lucked out! On Friday, Tristan, me, two cousins and their…

Litchfield Beach Update

This week is family beach week at Litchfield Beach in South Carolina. It’s a bit south of Myrtle Beach but north of Hilton Head. It’s not so touristy which is really nice, so the beaches are really clean and not crowded. Mom, dad, Tristan, and I packed up the Commander and made our way down on Sunday the 2nd. Traffic wasn’t too bad, so we made it in about 8…

Myrtle Beach Pre-Graduation Trip!

This week (Sunday May 17-Wednesday May 20) was spent in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My housemates at Salem and I decided to take a pre-graduation beach trip since we had a week of free time between final exams and the actual graduation ceremony.  After a bit of hotel research, we decided on the Sandcastle Resort at the Pavilion.  This hotel was actually fairly nice considering they had “student rates.”  Previous…
